Be Involved...

Here are just a few of our Young Leader highlights from the 2014-2015 program year:

Social Events

Our Young Leaders hold fun social events throughout the year.  Recent activities included a winter bags tournament and a summer volleyball tournament.

Insuring Your Farm, Family & Future

Series of three sessions, co-sponsored by our COUNTRY® Financial Agents, that focused on topics such as property, equipment and crop insurance, life insurance and investment strategies.

Safe Rural Driving Presentations

Our Young Leaders went into the classroom with our Farm Bureau manager to talk about safe rural driving with driver’s education students at Illini West High School.

HCFB Foundation Raffle

Our Young Leaders conduct an annual raffle event that benefits our Hancock County Farm Bureau Foundation, which provides funding for Ag in the Classroom programs and college scholarships to students in Hancock County.  In 2014-2015, over $4,000 was raised through a gun raffle.

Agri-Quiz Bowl

Trivia contest with ag questions that are sure to stump you a few times!  This annual competition is held during Ag Day at the Illinois State Fair in August.

Discussion Meet

Participants are given discussion questions in this timed event and are judged on their involvement in the discussion.  The winner at the district level advances to compete in the state competition at the IFB Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Down on the Farm

Annual spring event sponsored by our Young Leaders and Women’s Committee that brings over 250 first grade students together to learn about agriculture and farming!

Quincy Gems Outing

Summer family outing for our Young Leaders at a Quincy GEMS baseball game - what a great way to network with other young farmers in our area!

Farmland Tour

A group of Young Leaders toured the Farmland pork processing plant in Monmouth this past spring to learn more about what happens to their livestock after it leaves the farm.

Ag Industry Tour

This annual trip is coordinated by Illinois Farm Bureau and is a great opportunity for Young Leaders to learn how farming is different throughout the country.
